As we launch into the final weeks of our New Zealand tour (showing absolutely no sign of slowing down) we begin to reflect on the amazing time we’ve had. From Christchurch to Wellington to Auckland, we can honestly say it’s been an absolute ride.
And apparently we’re not the only ones who have been enjoying ourselves. Ann at the Dominion Post says, “In an evening of excellence highlights were: the ethereal opening with graceful and super-flexible contortionist Lucia Carbines, suspended in a perspex globe; and the astonishing Gorilla Girls whose daring acrobatic balances are of a kind normally done by men, though not often in sexy black underwear.”
The folks over at The Press were as impressed by our Spiegeltent as they were by our show, declaring our humble home “out of this world.” Georgina confesses that Empire is “a stunning tour de force that combines burlesque, gravity-defying stunts, dance, lights, bubbles, live music and bucketloads of talent” and goes on to affirm, “you must see this.” Thanks, doll!
At the hands of Express, we’re humbled by the words, “Underestimate this sizzling show at your peril. It’s the hottest thing you’ll see all summer!” These guys also have compliments for our crazy comperes, “The largest jewel in Empire’s weighty crown are hosts Oscar and Fanny, who fulfil their MC duties by combining the roles of ring master and clown with such feverish energy and unexpected masterful characterisation, that they (literally) have their audience eating out of their hands (and later mouths).”
Lucky for you, Auckland, Empire is still showing at Wynyard Quarter and will be in town till February 15. Don’t miss out!
